Oh my GOD.

This week has been awful. Too much.

First, graduation--which yay, and that will get it's own post as soon as I'm feeling like a human again.

Friday at two was my English departmental ceremony, and then Jeremy's was at 7pm. Then the next morning at 9:30 was my big ceremony, and then Jeremy's was at 5pm. And for the last few days we have been packing and tripping over boxes and becoming increasingly more frustrated and desperate to have actual space to walk again.

So now we're about to do The Big Move, which is going to be an all day thing.. we have so much stuff it is ridiculous. An INSANELY larger amount of stuff than we had when we moved here last year. This has been the hardest and most frustrating packing experience yet.

And we're really just super annoyed and tired... I mean seriously, we are so drained.

So when we get there we will probably sleep for a week and then start to slowly unpack. So I am going to be disappearing for a while, friends. I have to go away and have alone time and recuperate. This week has been a whirlwind of too much family around bothering us and we need to be aloooone.

I am of course happy about moving and etc., but oh my god. Tired.

More on Twitter: Device Updates
I think one's use of Twitter is maximized when you turn Device updates ON. You will receive your contacts' updates the minute they are posted. While sending updates through SMS costs money, receiving your contacts' updates is free. The only limitation is that you can only receive 250 messages per week (if you're not in the US). Of course, if your contacts update too often, this might not be the best choice.

How to Follow someone and turn Device Updates ON )

You'll have to do this for each contact you want to follow via your phone. This is good, since you can specify which people's updates you'll receive via text, and not clog your inbox.

It also occured to me that texting someone in the US is cheaper via Twitter. Both of you just turn your Device Updates ON, and you in the Philippines use PHtwitters, then simply send 140-character direct messages to each other! BRILLIANT.

hey ho, the gel's a bit slow
My Women in Literature class is held online. Aside from papers, we're supposed to write short essay responses to our weekly reading assignments.

This week, the assignment directed us to read several poems, choose one and "relate a significant feature of it to the rest of the class."

I came home rillyrilly tired today and wrote a four paragraph thing describing a significant feature of the poem I'd read and relating it to what the rest of the class has covered. I was like: this poem is about the exclusionary pressure traditional roles have put upon women! And how men had "held the pen," as Austen said, defining women without their consent for so long! Our class has followed the development of independent female voices! And the ways that women negotiated those power imbalances and... ((waves hands)) yanno.

But, duh, the teacher didn't mean relate as in "bring into or establish association, connection, or relation," she meant it as in recount, recount it to the class, not: wax poetical about how this poem symbolizes the study of women in literature in this class.

Hahhahahahah.

I *just now* realized this.

Fuck. Maybe she'll give me most of my ten points out of pity for my obvious wiring problem in the old brain box?

On television
The synopsis below cracked me up so hard in the grocery store when Rae read it to me tonight that I had to put my basket down and hide my face in the boxes of pasta.. I've bolded my favorite bits:

Henry Spivey (Christian Slater, “Bobby”) is a middle-class efficiency expert living a humdrum life in the suburbs with a wife, two kids, a dog, and a minivan. Edward Albright is an operative who speaks 13 languages, runs a four-minute mile, and is trained to kill with his teeth. Henry and Edward are polar opposites who share only one thing in common -- the same body. When the carefully constructed wall between them breaks down, Henry and Edward are thrust into unfamiliar territory where each man is dangerously out of his element. “My Own Worst Enemy” explores the duality of a man who is literally pitted against himself. And it raises the question: who can you trust when you can't trust yourself?

Just another reminder for anyone who wants to write for television and doesn't know if they can: YOU CAN. This is an actual show with actual actors on an actual payroll and actual network interest. I guarantee that the story in your head is better than this and you certainly wouldn't describe it with such a lack of self-awareness. All you have to do is put fingertips to keyboard and pound it out.

Seriously.

In other TV news I've watched the first 6 episodes of "Friday Night Lights" and I can't believe how hard this show makes me cry. It's like "Everwood" but I cheer as much as I sob. I'm so on Coach Taylor's side it's pathetic and I want to adopt Matt Saracen. It's too early to say much, but I am really enjoying it and I wouldn't be surprised if I finished the first season by Sunday night.

Other quicks thoughts from the last week on television:

- "LOST" kicks ass.
- Even though the skits about Suze Orman's jackets are fucking hilarious, SNL is still mostly shite.
- "Supernatural" feels like a different show every week and I'm kinda over it.
- Gio's haircut is hot and if Betty doesn't jump on that boy soon she's a robot.
- "Bones" has been so consistent this season. I really look forward to it every week.
- Ditto for "Top Chef."
- The Kevin/Scottie proposal made me cry my straight girl heart out. I want a gorgeous gay man to fall in love with me and tell me he wants to marry me because I changed the lightbulbs.
- "Grey's" is back and I feel like it never left. I don't think that's a good thing. I want more than the status quo. And I want T.R. to stop playing George like such a cartoon character.
- "Moonlight" and "One Tree Hill" continue to entertain me for all the wrong reasons.
- "30 Rock" and "How I Met Your Mother" for all the right ones.
- Jim and Pam are gonna make it. I just know it.
- "GREEK" kicks ass.

In upfront news, three of the shows I am most excited about—"Dollhouse," "FRINGE," and "Mythological Ex"—will be on the air next year and things are looking good for "Good Behavior." Also, I couldn't be happier about the renewal news for "Eli Stone." It was the surprise of the season for me. I really loved it and I am so glad it's coming back.

And finally, "October Road" was canceled y'all! I'M FREE!!!!! It was a train wreck I couldn't take my eyes off of and I won't miss it. OK. I won't miss 98% of it. There's something about Eddie Latekka...

The Paper
Does anyone else watch this show?  This is my guilty pleasure at the moment and I'm LOVING IT!  Except Giana.  If it is wrong to hate a girl in high school, I don't want to be right.  She is every girl I ever hated in high school rolled into one.  Amanda may seem obnoxious, but there is something I like about her.  I kinda want her to be a bitch to some of the other students on the newspaper staff.  They already act like they hate her.  I think she should give them a reason.  GIVE THEM A REASON AMANDA!  BE MEAN TO THEM!  SOME OF THEM (Giana and Trevor) DESERVE IT!  And Alex is just a little bitch.  OH MY GOD ADAM JUST STARTED CRYING!  This is the BEST show ever!

P.S. I totally did not watch the preview and I'm not even reading posts on my flist in fear that someone brought it up, SO PLEASE DO NOT MENTION ANYTHING THAT HAPPENS IN THE PREVIEW FOR NEXT WEEK! (Actually, I'm going to leave this outside of the cut because this applies to ALL of my shows; I never watch the previews anymore. Except Supernatural, for some inexplicable reason. Reactions For Tonight's Bones Under The Cut )

In other news, my DVR decided to record American Gladiators instead of How I Met Your Mother. Um, thanks DVR? It's okay, though. Luckily Jesus and Santa Claus had a drunken one-night stand resulting in the internets, and now I can watch shows later if I miss them the first time. That's the story of Easter, right? I stopped going to church when I was four, and I get all confused.
